Finished Basement in Barrington, Illinois

The customers recently added a three season’s room to the back of their house.  With that addition they had a full foundation put in.  Between the existing and new unfinished basement space the customers had a very large basement that they wanted to finish.  The finished portion of the basement was divided into a bedroom with en suite bathroom, a powder room, a bar area, media room, exercise room and recreational area.

We did not have to do any prep work to the existing foundation.  There weren’t any previous water or seepage issues.  To ensure that the homeowners would not have to deal with future water or seepage issues two sump-pumps were installed with a battery backup.

We constructed the rooms within the basement according to the layout that was created to give the customers the separate spaces they desired.   We installed all the rough plumbing needed for the bathrooms and bar area.  Since the space that was being finished was quite expansive we needed to install numerous recessed can lights, outlets and switches.  The existing electrical panel could handle of the new electrical.  To finish off the mechanicals we installed heat vents and cold air returns tying into the existing duct work.

After all the rough mechanicals were installed we installed drywall on the walls and ceilings and cement board in the en suite bathroom to protect against moisture, mildew and mold.

A neutral porcelain tile was installed in the bar area, bathrooms and exercise room.  Carpeting was installed in the remaining finished portion of the basement.

We installed a custom shower enclosure in the en suite bathroom.  The enclosure contained a shower spa system including a steam unit.

The bar, en suite bathroom and powder room received maple cabinetry and cabinetry trim.  We added specialty cabinets and trim to the bar to give it a custom look.  We installed quartz countertops for durability and style for the bar, en suite bathroom and powder room.

We installed pine six-panel doors and trim and a decorative stair rail system to finish of this basement remodel.
