Kitchen Remodel Geneva IL
Completely Renovated 1960’s Kitchen in Geneva, Illinois
The customer wanted to completely remodel their 1960’s outdated kitchen. The kitchen space was very confined with a peninsula and wall cabinets above the peninsula. We removed the soffits, outdated cabinets, laminate countertops and linoleum flooring.
The existing kitchen was right next to the formal dining room. A wall separated the two rooms. The customer wanted an open feel for the kitchen and dining room. They also wanted the dining room to be a less formal eating area. We removed the wall and added a breakfast bar between the kitchen and eating area. The eating area remained large enough to accommodate a large kitchen table.
The kitchen had an existing standard size double hung window over the kitchen sink. One of the goals of the remodel was to allow more natural light into the kitchen by the sink. The existing double hung window was removed and a wider casement window was added. We added recessed can lights and accent lights to add to the natural light.
We added hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen and eating area.
We kept the same location of the sink and dishwasher under the window. We relocated the range and refrigerator locations. We were able to incorporate an island for prepping and/or serving.
The cabinets are from a stock cabinetry line. They are cherry cabinets that darken with age to create a warm look. We used trim accents to create a custom look from stock cabinetry. We installed a custom range hood.
Lastly, we added granite countertops and a decorative tiled backsplash with an accent pattern over the range to finish off this complete kitchen remodel.
